I spend so much time analysing the performance of the British right that I sometimes forget just how much I despise the British left. Most of the left wing people I know tend to gravitate toward the public sector, academia or the arts, and as a consequence will always adopt the most socially convenient opinions possible - no matter how absurd, even if that means supporting unethical medical experiments on kids in the name of gender ideology, or cheering on genocidal Islamist terrorists - when they have absolutely no idea what drives the Arab-Israeli conflict.
There is no actual moral core to their arguments. For most of them it is pure narcissism and cowardice - and will bleat the mantras of their peers just to avoid cancellation.
The rave DJs I know are the absolute worst, because they’ll bleat slogans like “free Palestine” even after Hamas shot up and burned a psy-trance festival, and women were raped, mutilated and paraded for the cameras. It matters more to these DJs to play bleepy noises to drug addled chavs and students than take a principled line on anything - even if that means enabling antisemites and Islamic sectarians. These are the same people who will call you far right for having a different opinion, by the way.
It’s actually comical because artists of all stripes are destroying their own scenes by taking partisan positions they know nothing about while claiming moral superiority. It’s happened to the stand-up comedy circuit over trans issues, where anyone critical of porn-addled degenerates is called a transphobe - and barred from performing. What you then get is an achingly conformist groupthink that is neither sharp or satirical, or even funny. It’s just preachy in-group signalling. Nobody’s going to part with money for that.
Similarly, I’m not going to buy a concert ticket to see my favourite artists break off from doing what I pay them to do, just to lecture me about Israel or Trump - especially when I know for a fact I know more than they do.
Personally, I think a sign of maturity is being able to separate art from artist, so I can still enjoy music or film even if I think the people who produced it are wankers. That’s why I can still listen to Garbage and similarly idiotic rock bands, but that respect isn’t reciprocated. We keep hearing from these artists that anyone who does not conform to their liberal groupthink is beyond the pale, so I’m not going to part with money for people who don’t respect the people who sustain them.
Worse still, these people claim to be the good guys, but then immediately set out to destroy the careers of other artists who don’t agree with them - or set about blackmailing them to conform. They tried it with David Draiman, JK Rowling and the lovely Maureen Lipman. Usually, they’re just out to hobble their competition or make themselves centre of attention, spitting on the people who opened doors for them.
It’s not just artists either. I know a lot of weak people who dare not stand on a principle out of fear of losing their social standing. I expected at least some solidarity from certain friends when I was dragged from my home by the police for the crime of posting a meme, but defending my right to free speech while saying something they disagreed with was too much of an ask - even though what I posted was “Fuck Hamas” meme - a proscribed terrorist organisation.
Most left wing sentiment is driven by social cowardice, ignorance and narcissism, and I have no time for it at all - and I’m not so desperate for company that I need still call these people friends.
On a related note, I am often asked why I spend so much time talking about the Gaza conflict. As it happens, I would rather not write about it because there are any number of more interesting topics - but it is part of the British political landscape when we have mass protests of foreigners and subversives on our own streets waving the flag of the Islamo-leftist revolutionary movement (masquerading as human rights protest).
This is not trivial. It is a national security threat, especially when we have Moslem MPs using our parliament to advance their own ethnic vendettas. As such, it is necessary to dismantle their lies and expose them for the charlatan scumbags they really are. The "Israeli genocide" narrative is central to their poisonous agenda, and I will never stop calling it out.
The reason we know there isn’t a genocide in Gaza is because it would have been over months ago if there was. The IDF does not fanny about. They’d either have completely exterminated every Gazan resident or force relocated them either to the West Bank or Egypt. Neither of which has happened. Neither is likely to happen. Neither is in their interests to attempt. Neither would be permitted by the USA.
What the IDF *is* doing in Gaza is taking every possible step to ensure Hamas can’t continue their war of extermination on Jews - which involves meticulous destruction of their capacity to fight. That means dismantling tunnels, closing down smuggling routes, killing terrorists, locating and destroying arms caches, and moving populations away from the borders to prevent further rocket attacks.
The purpose of these operations is to get Gaza to a state where it can be handed over to a new governing entity, but nobody serious expects them to do so without certain security guarantees, one of which is the total disarmament of Hamas - which is slow and arduous work. That Israel has had to obliterate entire districts speaks to the extent to which Hamas was embedded in civilian areas.
Why I’m supposed to give a solitary toss about this escapes me entirely. It’s precisely what I would do in their place after one of the worst terrorist attacks in modern history. Equally absurd is the suggestion they should be given a state when every possible resource intended to create one has been repurposed for war.
This video is an example of why the IDF has had to flatten so much of Gaza. It shows a tunnel shaft in a child’s bedroom. Half the Gaza strip is a command bunker, deeply embedded in civilian areas. You often can't risk sending in combat engineers because there's a good chance it will be booby trapped, so all you can do is warn people to get out of the way then flatten it. And that's why this process is taking months on end.
This is the *military* infrastructure by which Hamas is able to launch rockets at Israelis schools, and the same tunnels from which they launched their rape-murder spree on 7/10. Israel has an obligation to its own people to never let it happen again - and that necessarily requires a comprehensive block by block operation.
We've all seen the aerial footage of the ruins and devastation, but that does not mean genocide is taking place. It's just the grim consequence of Hamas prosecuting their war of extermination against the Jews. As yet, nobody has invented a technology where an operation of this type, at this scale, can be conducted without civilian casualties. This war is a tragedy, which is why Hamas shouldn't have started it. Whatever you want to call it, it isn't genocide.
