Well, I’d rather vote for a crap Reform MP who’s been an Estate Agent than a Labour candidate who’s never had a job outside political research or a fake Tory like Badenoch herself who’s inexplicably endorsed Count Binface as “the people’s champion” for Clacton. Let’s see how well that one works out for her in the long run.

An estate agent would definitely be an improvement on the likes of Angela Rayner who was Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government between July 2024 and September 2025.

Anyone, even Quasimodo, would be an improvement on 'our Ange'.

You are dead right on the importance of policy and the fact that there will be relentless attempts at sabotage if they get in. But the level of defeatism in this is just as infuriating as amateurism is. There is no inherent reason why a successful right wing policy platform can’t tackle the destruction of the country we have been witnessing, and there’s a huge advantage in that a genuine nationalist platform doesn’t WANT the country to fail. Are you seriously suggesting it’s not possible to find people better than Ed Miliband or Rachel Reeves? That someone working to improve things would do a worse job than Keir Starmer? It’s a,so frustrating that much of this has played out in the US against Trump with nobody in the UK looking at that and working out responses, because the same things done against Trump will be done here by the same kind of entrenched forces. That gives a template of warnings and ideas for countering it all. If measures are taken to prevent sabotage and nerve is held then there is no reason why a rightwing government has to fail.if Milei can turn Argentina around then it just be possible to improve our situation. Yes, insist on policy. Yes, warn about errors. But don’t just shout ‘we are all doomed’.

The point is that a challenger party has to be better than the incumbent parties. It’s pointless to shout out their failures and lack of competence and then admit that you are equally clueless. There’s a balance between pessimism and realism but Pete’s critique is a call to do better.

I agree.

I like Pete’s writing and have followed him for a while over different platforms ( love to donate Pete, but I’m a perpetually skint State Pensioner).

But there does seem to be an element of negativity sneaking into his work.

“Always with the negative vibes, man”.

(Quote, Oddball)

And while Pete makes some valid points about the possibility of totally inexperienced MP’s by the hundreds arriving after the next GE, maybe that’s what’s needed, a total refresh, á new broom.🧹.

After all, the new Labour intake in ‘24 have proved to be utterly useless, but by socialism rather than competence, to such an extent that they had to go outside Parliament to find a new PM.

Whilst my writing isn't a patch on yours (didn't take education seriously enough for reasons) I would say that the attitude in this article is defeatist. Sure Reform will be new to the job but I suspect there will be more business experience, therefore real life, in a Reform cabinet that Labour for sure and probably the Tories too. As for a Housing minister being an Estate Agent that's an improvement on a shop steward, Lawyer or a political activist with no real work experience (Labour front bench anyone?)

The legacy parties are never going to have the will or the bottle to be radical enough to challenge the establishment when in office and if we are going to save our country and culture we will need big cajones to stand up to powerful outside interests and the civil service just to name two.

I say we go for it and elect Reform because at the end of the day they cannot do any worse than what we have endured so far.

Exactly my thoughts too

I got to the ‘dismal Aaron Banks Brexit campaign’ (remind me what was the result of the referendum?)

I’ve still to hear what Reform/Restore will do that will not be an improvement on the real dismal parties.

Policies of the Uniparty since the 1960s onwards?

Do the writers want professional Judas’s in charge?

Their history’s are as vacant as their minds, no life except through the pampered halls of academia.

Being dictated too by a corrupt establishment is therefore better than a normal human being warts and all?

It’s as if the last 60 years of abominations in Parliamentary governance never occurred.

Let’s get the Tory’s back, or bring in Labour with a new leader to ‘refresh’ the gobshitery.

No?

Then pray tell us in your esteemed wisdom what party is going to ‘save’ the country?

ISIS?

"remind me what was the result of the referendum?"

We barely scraped a win, and ran such an awful campaing we didn't have the political capital to do anything useful. As a political enterprise, it was an abject failure.

George's avatar

We scraped a win despite the Uniparty and MSM being against us.

Despite polling office corruption.

Despite fear mongering, the sneering, the abuse.

The older generation despite threats of pensions being decimated by economic catastrophe, stoically voted out.

I felt a pride in them, I’ve seldom felt in my life. Some have since died, others have taken over from them.

As a suggestion, an example / sample of your policy would be a good share for non subscribers to form a better view of what you're working on and why, as well as maybe provide some feedback.

You're underestimating how bad things will get - remember Adolf Hitler was elected into office. Because he was a man with a plan. Rupert Lowe is a man with a plan and Farage has no plan. How far to the right Restore drifts will not matter, the people will cry out for strong leadership. Restore will be the only party offering it!

Another hit job on Reform/Restore. Who is Pete North batting for? He must be coining it from Blob subsidies!

"On that basis, I probably will vote the the incumbent Tory over a political novice from the dissident right" -- Because in your heart you are for the uniparty

Elim Garak's avatar

I won't bother to vote ever again after what I lived through the last 10+ years.

That said I would take an estate agent over the kind of people that Labour or the Tories recruit as an MP even if politics, elections and government are fake.

I think the best we can do is hope that a bit of pressure and competition will concentrate minds. I expect most voters on this side of the big fence will wait to see what happens and just back the local candidate with the best credentials and greatest likelihood of winning. Not ideal, but here we are. I sort of resent giving the Tories another go after their last effort, it is not as if they are particularly contrite while expecting us to forgive, forget and trust. If Reform falters and goes backwards and then downwards it has itself to blame. It has to persuade, energize, reassure and charm a wide audience which is almost impossible but is/was doable with discipline, talent and decency.

I’m no reform supporter, but no wonder we’re doomed as a nation with vermin like this. They chuck the racist epithet around without a thought. Treacherous retards everyone of ‘em
