Having met the man for lunch with a mutual friend, so just the three of us for an hour and a half, my concern is that he is not one to take advice and very much has his own plan for the lead up to the next election.
He actually said his sole aim was to be PM after the next election and if not then would be returning to his farm. In my opinion this aim is devoid of reality but was probably based on destroying Farage over the way he was sacked and pulling all Reform votes to Restore.
His peace offer was, with impossible demands for Farage to accept,, purely tactical but on that score it has all gone quite.
Then as Pete has recorded he has supposedly dealt with his neo-nationalist element but what happens next will give us an indication as to whether he can be useful for our country's future or just exist on the fringes and gradually fade away?

This is quite plausible. Do you have constituencies in mind for the proposed two additional MPs? Unless the Tories stand down as well as Reform, I struggle to identify any likely candidates. Restore would certainly have some work to do to win back the female vote after Orla’s resignation.

Unfortunately, the Fabian strategy has worked extremely well in the UK. It seems to me that many Britons are quite happy to yield to Big Brother. This is not something that can be changed in my opinion. Of course it also had a lot to do with the class system that used to be the case. The Oxford, Cambridge and Eton crowd were successfully infiltrated back in the 1930’s. Today’s UK is the end result of that. Andrew Bridgen went on record a few days before the 2024 election claiming his polling showed he was on course to win.
He finished sixth (in an area where EVERY voter knew who he was and he had been MP for 14 years).
He got 3.2% of the vote.
That is not even friends and family vote. But of course THEY did not vote for him.
The people in the constituency fully on board with the causes he championed 2022-2024 still did not vote for him.
They all knew by then who he was.
