One wonders just how many 'defence experts' are nodding their heads in agreement, whilst - as yourself - holding out absolutely no hope of influencing matters. I liked the Falklands defence 'minimum capability' idea - at least it might prevent the Government from reducing capacity to Captain Mainwaring and a single platoon equipped with Digital ID to cover all eventualities. For the rest I believe we are stuck with the usual interwar Club Sporting and a bugger's muddle of competing corrupt interests, until the Imams call the Western Intifada, the Russkies jam our satellites or the EU cuts us off - any or all of which could happen tomorrow.
Having not read the recently released DIP myself, you are more informed on it than me.
I’m not seeing NATO mentioned once in your document. Is that because it goes without saying we would continue to be a member or because you would plan to leave the organisation? Be interested to hear your thoughts if it’s the latter.

Very good but what about protection of armed servicemen from vexatious human rights lawyers.
Thanks for this Pete.
A determined piece of work.

Thanks again

How do you defend with that? Looks more offensive than defensive. That’s why Israel has lots of them, for their Greater Israel Project.
