It's obvious that every branch of the government, judiciary, police and media is complicit in attempting to pull the wool over our collective eyes. Sadly for them, we aren't fooled because we're the poor schmucks living with the consequences of unlimited immigration.
Vanishingly small evidence of our decline is on public view in the mainstream media, but there's more than enough on social media to make up for it, and it's appalling.
Fraser Nelson needs to move his elite posterior out to the provinces who have received the most recent migrants; his doe-eyed embrace of the situation would soon change. Better still, move him to any inner city ghetto to report on race-based day-to-day criminal activity and see how long his joie de vivre lasts.
Crime is down according to the official statistics which are highly manipulated. I wonder how many people even bother to report crimes now? I wonder how many police forces would record it or accurately if you did.
Perfect point Elim, unless you desperately need a crime number for your insurance, many people simply don’t bother any more. They know the police won’t do anything.
He’s a materialist. They all are. It’s why they can’t see what’s happening or contemplate truth. Their perfectly logical statistical factualities are utterly meaningless when it comes to a human society. They can’t justify the torture of the innocent, the destruction of the vulnerable their dystopian hunger game has produced, so they continue to sleepwalk their magical realism, like an ideologically possessed marxist does through a mass famine grave caused from their poor economic choices, only stopping to marvel at the funeral flowers saying ‘look at what beauty I have created’. You can’t save a materialist, it is a curse but you can save yourselves and you ARE England.
He has the mindset "well I haven't suffered from crime, none of my friends have, my neighbourhood doesn't have much crime and I don't go to areas where there might be crime so...ergo...there's not much crime because I personally haven't experienced it."
The history of the world over the last 2000 years proves that nations rise, plateau and then decline this stage being called the #Age of Decadence' by Sir John 'Pasha' Glubb in his 1075 essay 'The Fate of Empires.'
We are clearly in decline and following all the characteristics of previous nations that have declined namely - defensiveness, pessimism, materialism, frivolity, an influx of foreigners, increases in ther Welfare State and the weakening of religion.
Decadence is due to too long a period of wealth and power, selfishness, love of money and a loss of the sense of duty.
The influx of foreigners is even worse today than in the past due to modern travel and only a blinkered, liberal elite, out of touch fool, which Fraser Nelson is, would suggest 'we have never had it so good' as Harold Macmillian once said.
For realists with eyes to see our country is going to hell in a handcart and when we reach rock bottom only new dynamic strong leadership that puts the British first will gradually help us rise again from the ashes.
Nelson uses the crime survey which is wildly at odds with police reported crime. His use of NHS data is also deeply suspect. He is not even a very good propagandist.
I have a good tradesman friend who's become somewhat overwhelmed by van break ins/tool thefts, on YT watching videos in his spare time.
These always happened, but he knows, as do we all, that it's way more widespread and done with way greater wilful damage (peeling the van open like a sardine tin) and way greater menaces (he now fantasies about keeping a baseball bat in the house).
And the greatest irony? He's more likely to be pulled over and arrested for driving an unsafe vehicle taking his damaged van to the garage to fix it, than the perps who broke into it will be investigated, let alone apprehended.
I can just hear him & his pals saying how they're "doing my bit" to keep race relations in good order. It's all they care about really, virtue-signalling to their fellow middle class tossers.
Fraser Nelson really should stop with his use of opiate suppositories. It's the only rational explanation for the unmitigated keek he spouts on the odd occasion that he pulls his head out of his sphincter.
As a child growing up in the 70s I used to regularly get the tube into central London, on my own, and wander around, on my own - without a care in the world. Now, as an adult, I'd be very apprehensive about doing either, and I avoid cities. I live nowhere near London now, thankfully. In the late 60s/early 70s we'd be left in prams/pushchairs outside shops while mum was inside the shop...
Life was very much better and safer then and we know why and what has changed. I hope that Nelson reads your article.
Pete nails it stating that we were a "high trust" society. We are not organised to cope with this increasing level of crime, so what will happen? Societal collapse of some sort and it is beginning.
Has Nelson bothered to delve deeper into the statistics? Are all crimes down or just certain ones whilst others have risen? Are some crimes just not recorded anymore? Has the ONS fudged the numbers, under pressure from the Home Office or Police (who act without any oversight since the creation of the College of Policing) or is Nelson just looking at a summary cribsheet and making his judgement based solely on that?
Good article Pete. Frazer Nelson seems to live in another universe. We know we can't trust records or data. There is no mention about scams or fraud. The sums stolen are huge with devastating effects for those affected. Online scams are a daily occurrence.
His writing seems to be a psychos. His writing does not reflect our daily reality.
Nelson is a f***ing liar. Crime is much worse and the police led by woke morons. I know because I served under a much better regime.
Thanks for the thoughtful summary.

Nelson is possibly the only journalist I've heard of who deliberately shuts out "the noise" of everyone else.
I once saw a conversation he had with a pal on X, back around 2020 Covid time. His pal asked him how he coped with "the noise" of the platform.
Nelson replied that he simply keeps everyone on mute apart from "the interesting people" he follows.
Can't quite find the right metaphor but perhaps this partly explains his absolute fuckwittedness?
"He has a face one would never tire of punching" as someone said of a past Chancellor.

The difference being that when Macmillan said that in 1959 it was true.
I know!
Sorry that should be his 1975 essay!

I think Nelson is trying to convince himself. As it becomes harder to deny reality so the effort to shore up delusional beliefs intensifies.
If Nelson really believes what he says, which I doubt, he needs a psychiatrist.
Having been virtually sacked from the Spectator he has to earn a living for his young family he has sold his soul to his Editor.
I can just hear him & his pals saying how they're "doing my bit" to keep race relations in good order. It's all they care about really, virtue-signalling to their fellow middle class tossers.
The time for honest engagement with bad faith actors like Nelson has long since passed.
Excellent article.
It all has a horrible ring of familiarity to it.
"Crisis? What crisis?"

Ditto
Me too!

If I was younger, I'd emigrate.
Come to Bruton then!
Tempting.
Make it happen!!!

Our 89 years old, sharp as a nail, ex-miner Labour voter, is clear it is and that this … “is the worst Labour government in my life”.
That would include James Callaghan's reign of terror. Good God!
