Absolute belter Mr North. Trump doing exactly what he was elected to do and those slimey bastards in power both here and in Brussels despise him for it. We can get out of this mess but it's going to take a leader with honesty and grit. Do we have the time to wait ?.
Absolutely spot on. Great article and covered everything I can think of. Let’s pray for a miracle and that it comes in the form of a steely and determined leader and party who will put us first and not renege on their promises.
This is why I come on here and say its important to follow what's happening in America.
Even if it is to just learn from their mistakes.
The tragedy for European Civilisation (I'm including Britain) is we haven't been strong/ brave enough to build an alternative 'power block' or brake away from the Global American Empire and do things differently in our own intrests.
By any rational analysis the 'globalisation' agenda has NOT worked for the West and has simply empowered the global elite and benefited those that oppose the Christian West.
While the UK awaits a Trump like PM, which sadly Farage will never be, the people must realise, as in Iran, that if they want change they are going to have to demand it and reform of our governance and democracy is an essential part as laid out here by work done back in 2012.
Our politicians should be our servants and not our Masters.
Except you’re overlooking one rather important likelihood which is the white indigenous population will soon become outnumbered by the rest and unless something is done about Muslim postal votes we are already close to that tipping point. I fear if the next election falls to Labour or a socialist coalition we’re pretty much buggered. Hence it’s down to Nige as there’s no one else can win in 2029 who isn’t a socialist.
I agree with 99% of what you’ve said on here Niall but have more hope for Farage than hold. I think the U.K. will be harder to turn around than the US but also feel Farage is far and away our best hope in the short term. In the medium and long term we will certainly all be dead.
I wish Farage was up to the job but he carries so much baggage, that his opponents have yet to use, that he will never get the decisive majority he needs to sort out all our problems and he has always been policy light as he still is - and don't start me on the Habib and Lowe issues.
So I believe the reality is if Farage wins the next election he will fail and very regrettably, with or without him winning, our country has further to decline before we can start to raise again.
I understand why you hope Farage succeeds but I don't think detailed analysis and reality supports your wishes.
Since when did it take a fully thought through set of policies to win an election. Just look at Labour’s Ming vase strategy. I live in hope that Farage will grow stronger the more shit they throw at him like the Democrats with Trump. If we wait for the Messiah you want it will probably be too late.
This largely ignores the fact that Europe's decline is mostly down to American "soft power". Also it's really weird to see English Nationalists praising Trump for his strong man image while not being aware of the realpolitik behind this, Trump is pushing American hegemony to it's end
American influence has been prevelant throughout UK and Europe for almost 100 years, through neoliberal policy the US has had a massive influence on how Europe has been shaped. It's easy to say "This politician is responsible for this policy decision" but when US finance is pushing that decision forward then they too have a responsibility.
Trump may be doing what he's been elected to do, but it's going to come at a cost. Take what happened in Venezuela, the tactics were straight out of the US regime change playbook, but things such as the Chinese investment in Venezuela and the fact that China owns billions in US Treasury bonds is being largely ignored. This is going to be another shambles
I do find it of concern that so many of our companies are owned by the USA, but if the alternative is to have them owned by Russia/China then the USA is the best option.
2. Yes I am anti-USA, and if you're English so should you be, because there's no good reason for US based private finance companies owning care homes here in the UK. We have been hollowed out and are being used like a sock puppet
No that's not what I'm saying, but it doesn't make sense to have foreign entities running crucial services and infrastructure and is a sign of our capitulation.
Have you ever thought about becoming a speech writer for a great leader? Your eloquence and articulacy is spot on, whether people agree with you or not.
Completely and utterly correct, Pete. I couldn't agree more. But I am in the 'autumn' of my years, as Frank Sinatra sang, and I desperately want to believe that the United Kingdom will rise into sensibility and good governance again. That once more we will have a prosperous, respected and proud nation state with people who are prepared to fight and, if necessary, die for it. I fear I will not live long enough to see it because we lack a leader of the calibre of Trump. Old men, like Trump and Farage, understand but the younger ones still want to be 'liked'. I adored Margaret Thatcher (not initially of course) but I came to see and understand what leadership was about. My goodness, we need someone like her today.
Superb article, full of truth bombs. Thank you, Pete, for articulating the current situation so well. It’s so important that we see where we are. Then, maybe, we have a chance of changing course before it’s too late.
Let me echo the praise in the other comments. Pete, you’ve brilliantly described the current state of affairs. It gives me a glimmer of hope for the UK although I must admit the clown show in London has created a potentially fatal sickness here. I’m a US citizen married to a Brit and have Leave To Remain. I love living in North Yorkshire and it breaks my heart to watch the absolute mess that’s being made of Britain. Many people in the US feel the same way I do. In spite of my affection for England, I am considering going back to the US, primarily for my son’s sake. I apologise for mot sunscribing sooner but rectified that just now. Thanks again for insight.

My stance is that when we reach rock bottom we will rise again but to sustain that rise the people will need to demand these reforms:-

In essence THA gives people power turning our politicians into our servants instead of our masters.
Brilliant read!

Elaborate please?
European Civilisation got captured by the Global American Empire in 1945 and never broke free.
General de Gaulle understood this decades ago.
A good book going into the American economic/ Corporate strangle hold on Britain is Vessel State by Angus Hanton.
Just started reading it.
American influence has been prevelant throughout UK and Europe for almost 100 years, through neoliberal policy the US has had a massive influence on how Europe has been shaped. So the world would be a better place if Russia and China continued their expansion, as they have in Africa, to the likes of Venezuela and Greenland?
It appears you are basically anti the USA and especially Trump so which Super Power do you favour becoming dominate??
I do find it of concern that so many of our companies are owned by the USA, but if the alternative is to have them owned by Russia/China then the USA is the best option.
1. No. And no one is suggesting that.
2. Yes I am anti-USA, and if you're English so should you be, because there's no good reason for US based private finance companies owning care homes here in the UK. We have been hollowed out and are being used like a sock puppet
So I can only assume you wish to see a world where the three or four Superpowers mind their own businesses?
Well as Jordan Peterson would say " Good luck with that!"
As for American, or for that matter any foreign investment in the UK, are you seriously suggesting we shouldn't have any?
It would appear you desire a world divorced from geopolitical realities.
Assumptions are your problem, not mine
No idea who Jordan Peterson is
No that's not what I'm saying, but it doesn't make sense to have foreign entities running crucial services and infrastructure and is a sign of our capitulation.
Again, assumptions are on you, not me
You can be concerned about the US ownership of UK businesses without being anti-USA.
What good will that do?
100% correct. We need to brake away from the Global American Empire as much as possible. Its the Americanization of Britain that's destroying it.
Trump has just put 50% tariffs on German steel. Is a tiny example of the power dynamics
One of your best, Pete👍
A glorious article summarising everything…

Brilliant Pete. Well done, and thankyou.
Excellent analysis, perhaps you could share it to your MP, who is also mine? Time for our leaders to pick a side.
