Well considered and realistic policies are what divides the men from the boys when push comes to shove.

It amazes me that anyone can find fault in the carefully considered process and the methods you propose Pete. Meaningful change is going to take years so effort is needed now to make sure we’re going the right way.

Carl and most of the Lotus Eaters team (although not all, they have one very independent minded and fair person on the team and no prizes for guessing who. Clue: He's Greek) are falling into the same pitfalls as the Reform loyalist podcasters, such as Haryan Glaedyyv and his crew. That is they've bought into the friend/enemy distinction trap which means you have to be 100% on the team or you're an apostate or infidel. This means all critical and rational discussion isn't possible. Both Reform and Restore have this notion that if they don't win it all, crush their opposition and storm to victory then all is doomed and each is convinced they're the one true saviour.

The root cause of this type of cult thinking on the online Right is Neema Parvini, aka the Academic Agent. He heavily subscribes to the friend/enemy distinction and his circle is a never ending ideological purity test where over the years backsliders are cast out and subject to dogpiles, smear campaigns and false labels. He doesn't appear on camera much on the Lotus Eaters podcast but he exerts a big influence on them, especially via Harry and Dan and to a slightly lesser extent, Carl. People are often tempted to give AA credence, including people like James Orr, but he is best avoided and ignored.

I can't trust any news or commentary show once they nail their colours to a political party and who brook no criticism. As it is with GB News, the Telegraph, Times, Express and Mail and even the Spectator coming out for Team Farage and Lotus Eaters and hinterland podcasts declare for Restore you can't trust anything that comes out of them as they shill for their respective teams. All of them become unreadable or unwatchable.

You committed the cardinal sin of 'aggravated noticing' when it came to rummaging through the threadbare policy cupboard.

Didn't think I'd see that on the right, to be fair. But it's probably just a bit of wilful blindness on my part. A risk of politics, I guess, especially when people build up a large following, is that they begin to think they can't be wrong about stuff. We all need Red Teams to rattle our cages from time to time.

I have enjoyed Carl Benjamin’s commentary for a while, as with your own. It’s a shame to see this spat in action, which seems unavoidable. I hope this can be fixed and both sides will just refine their offerings for the greater good of the greater cause. It is for now disappointing that having the right moral stance in opposition to something is the same as winning power and using it to actually achieve something. The irony is that Restore had a role as a movement and think tank, but has wasted that opportunity.

I expected a bit more from Charlie Downes and Harrison Pitt. I was wrong.

Lowe is a farmer and I’m pretty sure knows the problems in agriculture and what the aims of British agriculture should be.

If anyone knows who to bring in to detail a policy paper, Lowe is the guy to select the right person for the job.

Yes he will interfere as he’s strong willed and pugnacious.

But that is the qualities necessary at a time like this.

By the way I don’t like Lowe.

I’ve met a few rich business people before and whilst being motivated they are self possessed with lousy personalities.

But bring in an amiable likeable person and watch them dismantle.

Lilypad hoppers. In life, when the one you stand on starts sinking, you look for the buoyant one nearby. You hop over. Lo, the one you land on starts to sink lower; behold, the old one rises up again. Herein the question, the common factor. I give you Carl Benjamin with beard, jacket and tie rubbing shoulders with people nobody in the High St, in front of the average TV, have heard of. Habib, Starkey, Lowe, the Lotus Eaters who define themselves, not others.

LE: ~a person who leads a life of dreamy, indolent ease, indifferent to the busy world; daydreamer.

Perhaps just conentrate your efforts on farming. It's obvioulsy an area that Rupert Lowe has expertise and in depth knowledge, so debate that with him and his followers, maybe that will be the wake up call that all areas will need as much discussion and thought.
